Job summary

C&T Consulting Engineers in Melbourne, VIC, is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer / Engineering Geologist to join our growing team on a full‑time basis. The role blends hands‑on site work with technical analysis and reporting, with increasing project responsibility.

You will work closely with CTCE's Directors and develop across both technical and consulting sides of geotechnical engineering, including site investigations, logging, data interpretation and geotechnical reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience in geotechnical engineering fields.
• Understanding of soil & rock logging and site investigations (AS1726).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to produce clear documentation.
• Willingness to undertake regular fieldwork across Melbourne and Victoria.

Responsibilities

C&T Consulting Engineers (CTCE) is a growing Melbourne based geotechnical engineering consultancy providing practical geotechnical advice across the land development, civil infrastructure and construction sectors. We work across a diverse range of projects including residential and commercial developments, roads, earthworks and other civil infrastructure.

As a boutique consultancy, our engineers are exposed to the full project lifecycle; from planning and undertaking investigations through to engineering assessment, reporting, construction support and working directly with Clients.

Opportunity

We are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer / Engineering Geologist to join our growing team.

This is a hands-on role suited to an engineer who enjoys a combination of site work, technical analysis and reporting, and who is keen to progressively take greater responsibility for their own projects.

You will work closely with CTCE's Directors and will have the opportunity to develop across both the technical and consulting sides of geotechnical engineering.

Key Roles

Your role will include:

• planning and undertaking geotechnical site investigations

• soil & rock logging and field testing

• site inspections and construction phase geotechnical support

• collation and interpretation of field and lab data

• preparation of geotechnical reports, technical advice and correspondence

• geotechnical assessments for various disciplines, e.g. earthworks, foundations, pavements and civil infrastructure

• assisting with project management and coordination

• preparation of proposals & fee estimates

• liaising with clients, contractors, laboratories and other consultants

• assisting with the maintenance of field equipment and project records.

The role will progressively develop depending on your experience, capability and areas of interest.

About you

We are looking for someone who is technically capable, reliable and keen to develop their career.

Ideally, you will have:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical Engineering / Engineering Geology or closely related engineering discipline

• experience working in geotechnical engineering fields

• an understanding of soil & rock logging and geotechnical site investigations (AS1726)

• strong written and verbal communication skills

• attention to detail and an ability to produce clear, technically sound documentation

• a practical approach to problem solving

• the ability to work independently while also knowing when to seek guidance

• a willingness to undertake regular fieldwork throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria

• a current Victorian driver's licence

• a Construction Induction Card (White Card), or the ability to obtain one.

Experience in land development, earthworks, pavements and / or construction phase geotechnical services would be advantageous but is not essential.
