Job summary

NSW Health Pathology's Molecular Medicine Department at John Hunter Hospital invites a Medical Laboratory Technician to join on a temporary full-time basis. You will work in a Genomics lab, performing cytogenetic tests and routine investigations under established protocols.

You will manage materials, maintain equipment, and contribute to quality systems while collaborating in a dedicated team. Diploma in Laboratory Technology or equivalent required; experience with LIS and pathology workflows

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification of Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution with subjects relevant to pathology or medical laboratory operations
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services within a discipline relevant to the department, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Systems
• Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner and to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment whilst working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes set to meet client expectations

Responsibilities

• Perform range of laboratory investigations and tests (manual and automated) and technical tasks by applying established methods and procedures
• Undertake preparation of materials and maintenance of equipment in line with established laboratory processes
• Contribute to quality management and continuous quality improvement activities
