Job summary

HESTA Super is seeking a General Manager – Private Equity to lead strategy development and execution across the Private Equity component of our Unlisted Assets program. This senior role has direct accountability for portfolio outcomes, fee negotiation, ESG integration and leading a high‑performing Private Equity team.

Reporting to the Head of Portfolio Management and closely aligned with Property and Infrastructure leaders, you will shape the Private Equity strategy, drive governance, and

Qualifications

• Significant experience managing a portfolio of direct equity or debt investments in private equity.
• Deep knowledge of return and risk of unlisted equities and private equity dynamics.
• Experience analysing fund managers and portfolios at a super fund, fund manager or research house.
• Proven leadership in guiding a technical high‑performing team through change.
• Experience developing portfolio sector strategy, sourcing investments, and overseeing analysis.
• Undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in finance or maths; CFA/Master of Finance encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Directing strategy development across Private Equity, with Board and CIO approvals.
• Leading asset management for Private Equity, including governance, operations, reporting, valuation, and fee negotiations.
• Driving ESG integration into manager and asset selection across the Private Equity portfolio.
• Leading the Private Equity team, including performance and development planning.
• Contributing to broader Investments strategy and cultural initiatives across Investments.
