Job summary

Export Finance Australia seeks a General Manager, IT Operations to lead infrastructure, cloud services, cyber security and governance. You will set the strategic direction, ensure secure and resilient technology services, and partner with the Digital, Data & AI teams to drive modernization across the organisation.

You will report to executives, manage budgets, and build a high-performing team while ensuring alignment with regulatory and risk objectives.

Qualifications

About you

The General Manager, IT Operations provides strategic leadership of EFA’s technology operations function, encompassing infrastructure and cloud platforms, service management, cyber security and engineering. You will set the strategic direction and operating model to ensure technology services are secure, resilient, scalable, cost-effective and aligned with EFA’s organisational priorities.
As a senior leader and trusted adviser to the Executive, you will provide clear, commercially sound advice on technology operations, cyber security, information risk, operational resilience, vendor performance and investment priorities. You will work closely with the General Manager, Digital, Data and AI to ensure the platforms, integration capabilities and security services supporting EFA’s digital, data and AI initiatives are fit for purpose.

• Lead and deliver EFA’s Technology Operations Strategy, ensuring infrastructure, cloud platforms, cyber capabilities, service delivery and operational support are aligned to current and future business needs.
• Provide clear advice to the Executive on service performance, cyber security, resilience, risk and investment priorities.
• Influence enterprise decision making by translating complex technology issues into clear business insights.
• Lead the delivery of secure, reliable and high performing technology services across the organisation.
• Establish strong service delivery frameworks and drive continuous improvement in service quality, operational efficiency, automation, cost management and employee experience.
• Lead EFA’s cyber security, information risk and operational resilience capability, ensuring cyber threats, vulnerabilities and risks are effectively managed, monitored and reported across the organisation.
• Drive the ongoing uplift of security controls, resilience, business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities while fostering a strong culture of security, risk awareness and operational excellence.
• Own and optimize EFA’s strategic technology vendor and partner relationships, ensuring strong service performance, commercial outcomes and effective risk management. This includes leading sourcing, procurement and contract management activities to maximise value, support business objectives and deliver high-quality technology services.
• Drive technology modernization including partnering with the Digital, Data & AI team to ensure new technology, data and AI solutions are transitioned smoothly into business-as-usual operations with appropriate support, governance and operational readiness.
• Establish strong technology governance, risk management and reporting frameworks that support informed decision making and demonstrate the value and performance of IT Operations.
• Lead budgeting, workforce planning, procurement and operational planning while ensuring technology risks, incidents and audit findings are effectively managed in line with organisational requirements.

Qualifications & Skills

• Significant senior leadership experience in technology operations, IT service delivery, cyber security, information risk, applications or infrastructure environments.
• Strong leadership with proven experience leading multidisciplinary technology teams and managing operational performance, risk, governance and service delivery outcomes.
• Experience managing technology vendors, managed service providers and delivery partners.
• Strong understanding of operational readiness and acceptance, including establishing sustainable support models for new technology or digital initiatives.
• Experience operating in a regulated, government, financial services or risk-conscious environment is desirable.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to translate complex technology matters into clear advice, risks, options and recommendations for executive stakeholders.
• Strong communication and presentation skills and ideally experienced with Board engagement and presentation.
• Strong judgement and risk awareness, with the ability to balance operational stability, security, compliance, cost, and user experience.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in information technology, computer science, cyber security, business, management or related discipline - ITIL, cyber security, cloud, risk or vendor management certification is desirable.
