Job summary

LDK Seniors Living is seeking a General Manager of Developments to drive the full lifecycle of its development portfolio from feasibility to handover. You will lead a Canberra-based team of Development and Project Managers, oversee budgets, risk, and stakeholder governance, and travel interstate as required, with a Brisbane or Sydney base.

The role demands 10+ years in development or construction management, proven leadership, and strong early-stage and delivery experience across multi-site

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, Architecture, Property or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in development management or construction project management, including leading project teams.
  • Proven experience leading a high performing team of Development Managers and Project Managers.
  • Proven experience delivering multi-site developments including new builds and refurbishments.
  • Strong experience across due diligence, design, tendering, procurement, contract administration and construction delivery.
  • Demonstrated commercial and financial capability with multi-million-dollar budgets and risk management.
  • Experience preparing board papers and securing board approval for major projects and investments.
  • Experience chairing or running Project Control Groups (PCGs) and managing multiple stakeholders across concurrent projects.

About the role

The General Manager of Developments is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing LDK's development portfolio across the full project lifecycle, from site feasibility and planning through to construction, handover and post-occupancy. Leading a multidisciplinary team, including a high performing team of Development and Project Managers based in Canberra, you will take accountability for project quality, timelines, budgets and risk, ensuring every new build, refurbishment and strategic upgrade reflects LDK's commitment to creating exceptional living environments for older Australians.

The role can be based in Brisbane or Sydney where regular interstate travel is required.

Role responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of LDK's development portfolio, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to quality standards.
  • Lead and support Development Managers and multidisciplinary project teams across multiple sites, including building and sustaining a high performing Canberra-based team of Development and Project Managers.
  • Oversee feasibility, technical due diligence, planning, design, procurement and approvals for new developments and strategic projects.
  • Manage construction delivery, contracts, consultants and contractors through commissioning, handover and post-occupancy activities.
  • Maintain oversight of development budgets, cash flow, forecasting and project risks across the portfolio.
  • Prepare and present board papers seeking approval and sign off for acquisitions, feasibilities, budgets, procurement and key project milestones.
  • Build strong relationships with executives, government authorities and key stakeholders while maintaining effective project governance, reporting and compliance
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
  • Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, Architecture, Property or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in development management, construction project management or construction management, including leading project teams.
  • Proven experience leading a high performing team of Development Managers and Project Managers.
  • Proven experience delivering multi-site developments, including new builds, refurbishments and projects within operating sites.
  • Strong experience across property due diligence, design, tendering, procurement, contract administration and construction delivery.
  • Demonstrated commercial and financial capability, including accountability for multi-million-dollar projects, budgets, cost control and project risk.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing board papers and securing board approval for major projects and investment decisions.
  • Previous experience chairing or running Project Control Groups (PCGs) and managing multiple internal and external stakeholders across concurrent projects.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with executives, government authorities, consultants and contractors.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant building codes and federal, state, territory and local government approval processes.
  • Experience within residential, retirement living or aged care development will be highly regarded.
