Job summary

Peoplebank is seeking a Gateway Engineer/Infrastructure Engineer for a 12-month contract. Open to ACT or SA-based candidates with Australian citizenship and current TSPV clearance, able to obtain Positive Vetting.

You will design, deploy, and support gateway infrastructure, collaborating with ICT teams to ensure capacity, security, and resilience across hybrid/cloud environments.

• Translate logical designs into physical designs to meet capacity/performance.
• Contribute to operational policies, procedures, and change initiatives.
• Provide specialist technical advice to senior stakeholders.
• Support recovery routines, contingency planning, and alternative network designs/topologies.
• Identify technical risks and design countermeasures/alternate solutions.
• Investigate suspected attacks and support security incident management.
• Provide guidance on physical, procedural, and technical security controls.
• Collaborate with ICT teams to sustain and improve gateway infrastructure capability.

Job description

Role: Gateway Engineer/Infrastructure Engineer

Contract: 12 months - with possible extension

Australian Citizen only

Clearance: Must hold current TSPV and be able to obtain/maintain Positive Vetting

Open to candidates based in ACT or SA

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and support network gateway components in line with agreed architectures and standards
• Translate logical designs into physical designs to meet capacity/performance requirements
• Contribute to operational policies, procedures, and change initiatives
• Provide specialist technical advice (including strategic guidance to senior stakeholders)
• Support recovery routines, contingency planning, and alternative network designs/topologies
• Identify technical risks and design countermeasures/alternate solutions
• Investigate suspected attacks and support security incident management
• Provide guidance on physical, procedural, and technical security controls
• Collaborate with ICT teams to sustain and improve gateway infrastructure capability

Skills & experience:

• Design/deployment of network infrastructure including Cisco Data Centre tech (e.g., Cisco ACI, Nexus, Cisco routers) and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
• Strong understanding of Palo Alto firewalls and IPS solutions
• Service design across Layer 4–7 switching/load balancing and proxy systems such as F5, Blue Coat, Citrix NetScaler, Broadcom SWG
• Experience designing/implementing VPN, email, and DNS (Infoblox) solutions
• Design and integration of hybrid and public cloud services
