We're looking for an experienced Gateway Engineer to maintain and support network gateway components for a national security agency, based in either Canberra or South Australia. This is an APS6-equivalent technical role — you'll ensure network architectures are implemented to defined standards, contribute to recovery and contingency planning, and play a genuine hands‑on part in safeguarding the organisation's network through incident investigation and security controls.
You’ll work closely with ICT teams, translating logical designs into physical solutions and providing detailed technical advice up to senior executive level. Given the sensitive nature of the environment, not all work areas can accommodate remote work, so your working arrangement will depend on the specific team you’re assigned to. Successful candidates will also be required to complete an Organisation Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to commencement, and the hiring vendor must hold current Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) membership.
$115,000 - $120,000 (Package incl. Super)
Onsite – work from home is not always available, depending on assigned team. 12-month engagement, with extension options available.
With offices in Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra, we’re a tight‑knitted team working across some of Australia’s most critical Defence and national security programs. We value expertise, collaboration and flexibility, providing our people with opportunities to contribute to meaningful and technically challenging projects.
We can offer great work, great people, great culture, great conditions, and an all‑round great time whilst you continue building a rewarding career in the Defence and national security sector. As part of IAG, you’ll be joining a team of more than 250 professionals.
Most opportunities advertised by IAG Defence & National Security are subject to client approval, security validation and contractual confirmation. Employment or engagement will only be offered following successful client acceptance and completion of all required pre‑engagement checks and onboarding activities.
As this role may support a Defence program, a Defence employment moratorium period may apply to current or recently separated ADF/APS personnel seeking to move into industry roles. If you are currently serving or have recently left Defence, we’d recommend confirming your eligibility to apply before submitting.
