Job summary

Avalon Enterprises Pty Ltd, trading as Avalon Restaurant, is seeking skilled cooks and chefs to join our kitchen in Katoomba, NSW. You will contribute to delivering high-quality dishes across lunch and dinner service, and support private functions in a vibrant, historic venue.

We offer a competitive full-time salary of AUD 75,000 to 85,000 plus superannuation, with opportunities for career growth within a respected Blue Mountains operator.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of professional cook/chef experience in fast-paced venues.
• Prefer Certificate III and Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
• Must have valid Australian work rights.
• WHS, food hygiene and HACCP knowledge.
• Willing to work nights, weekends and holidays.
• Relocation to Katoomba/Blue Mountains region encouraged if based elsewhere.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily kitchen operations, staff delegation, and station readiness.
• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes for lunch, dinner, events.
• Manage production schedules and staffing for peak periods.
• Estimate food supply needs, costs, and orders to avoid shortages.
• Ensure hygiene, sanitation, and food safety compliance.
• Onboard and supervise new team members; foster teamwork.
