Job summary

QE Innovations Pty Ltd in Port Kembla, NSW is seeking a skilled Workshop Fitter to join our team on a full-time basis. You will assemble, fit and maintain precision equipment and mechanical components according to drawings.

You will work with engineers and production staff to meet schedules, ensure quality and safety, and maintain accurate records. The role requires an apprenticeship qualification, experience in manufacturing, and the ability to read drawings.

Qualifications

• Completed apprenticeship or formal qualification in fitting AQF Cert 3 or 4.
• At least 2 years of on-the-job training.
• Experience as Workshop Fitter or in a similar role in manufacturing/engineering.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Proficient using precision measuring instruments and to tight tolerances.
• Knowledge of machine tools including lathes, mills, and drilling equipment.
• Attention to detail with commitment to quality workmanship.
• Valid driver’s or forklift license and First Aid certification.
• Experience in industrial/defence/heavy engineering advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and fit mechanical components to in-house designed equipment per specs.
• Measure and align parts with precision tools.
• Operate machine tools and hand tools to prepare and fit components.
• Inspect finished work for quality and compliance.
• Identify and fix mechanical issues; implement corrective actions.
• Perform routine maintenance of workshop equipment.
• Collaborate with team to meet production schedules.
• Keep accurate records of work and materials used.
• Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures.
