Job summary

Southern Cross Care (NSW & ACT) is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Officer for our Lavington Residential Aged Care home (4 days) and Palm Villa units (1 day). We are committed to safe, welcoming environments for residents and ongoing facility upkeep.

You’ll perform general maintenance across buildings, grounds and assets, handle basic trades, garden upkeep, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance while delivering a clean, inviting space for residents.

Qualifications

• A current driver’s licence.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience in maintenance within retirement living or aged care (preferred).
• Background in building, plumbing, welding, fitter & turner or similar (desirable).
• Trade qualification (desirable but not essential).

Responsibilities

• Carrying out general maintenance and repairs (basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry and building work)
• Keeping outdoor spaces looking their best with gardening and grounds maintenance, mowing, hedging, sweeping, hosing and general upkeep
• Completing planned preventative maintenance in line with site schedules
• Responding to reactive maintenance requests across your designated areas
• Monitoring maintenance works to ensure regulatory compliance
• Actively contributing to Work Health & Safety practices
