Job summary

Southern Cross Care NSW & ACT – Campbell ACT is seeking a proactive Maintenance Officer for a full-time role at our residential aged care facility. You will own the facility’s upkeep, coordinate repairs, and ensure safety and high standards across all systems.

Key responsibilities include inspecting plumbing and electrical systems, performing or coordinating repairs, implementing preventive maintenance, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Experience delivering complex repairs and small maintenance projects.
• Experience coordinating contractor(s).
• Property Management / Construction experience.
• Understanding of the BCA (Building Code of Australia), NCC and Australian Standards.
• Ability to use portable devices, including phones, tablets, laptops, at an intermediate level.
• Sensitivity to the needs of the elderly in a residential care setting.
• Experience and understanding of CMMS or CAFM (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs (plumbing, electrical, general upkeep).
• Perform or coordinate repairs and routine maintenance tasks to ensure all systems function safely.
• Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule to minimize breakdowns.
• Conduct checks on critical systems (fire alarms, emergency lighting, safety equipment).
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including infection control in aged care.
• Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialised work.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities (work orders, logs, reports).
