Job summary

Toby's Estate Coffee is seeking a Cafe Supervisor to lead daily cafe operations at our Newstead Flagship cafe in Brisbane. You will supervise front‑of‑house and barista activities, ensuring warm hospitality and high‑quality coffee experiences for guests.

The role involves cash handling, stock control, and coordinating cafe opening/closing, with a focus on team leadership in the absence of the Cafe Manager.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years experience in cafe/hospitality leadership.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to manage cash handling and till reconciliation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily cafe operations and lead staff in the Cafe Manager's absence.
• Ensure exceptional coffee and guest experiences.
• Manage opening/closing, stock and ordering, and equipment maintenance.
• Uphold health, safety and quality standards.

These days, Toby has left the building, but we've welcomed three new cafes to the fold – Newstead in Brisbane, Fitzroy in Melbourne and an outpost in Singapore, not to mention our Chippendale Flagship cafe won best coffee shop in the world in 2025 (and top 5 in 2026). We’re exploding on the international scene too – with Japan and New York on the cards, and licensees and roasteries in nine countries, and counting. Why join us as our Cafe Supervisor?

As our Cafe Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere and delivering exceptional coffee experiences for our customers. You'll support day‑to‑day café operations by performing all Barista and FOH duties while assisting to lead the team in the Café Manager’s absence. As part of this, this role will include cash handling, float management and till reconciliation, assisting with coffee ordering and stock control processes, overseeing front and back of house staff for start, break and finishing times, coordinating cafe opening and closing, and carrying out preventative maintenance and quality control on equipment.
