Toby's Estate is seeking an experienced Chef or Cook to oversee kitchen operations in our Melbourne venue. You will manage prep, cooking, and inventory while upholding food safety standards and delivering high-quality dishes that reflect our brand.

Qualifications

• Hands-on cooking experience across menu items and kitchen operations.
• Strong knowledge of food safety standards and HACCP practices.
• Proven ability to lead a busy kitchen and coordinate with management.

Toby started roasting in his Mum’s garage in Woolloomooloo 25 years ago, and there’s a been a change or two along the way. These days, Toby has left the building, we've welcomed three new cafes to the fold – Newstead in Brisbane, Fitzroy in Melbourne and an outpost in Singapore, not to mention our Chippendale Flagship cafe won best coffee shop in the world in 2025 (and top 5 in 2026). We’re exploding on the international scene too – with Japan and New York on the cards, not to mention licensees and roasteries in nine countries, and counting. But the DNA hasn’t changed – we are leaders in specialty coffee for a reason.

We’re looking for a genuine foodie in the café scene - a café Chef or Cook that will oversee kitchen operations, from prepping and cooking to managing inventory and ensuring food safety. You’ll also work closely with our manager to evolve our menu that showcases creativity and consistency. We are seeking an experienced Chef or talented Cook for a permanent, full-time role. Somone who has a passion for food and a proven track record in a similar role. You’ll thrive in a lively, fast-paced environment, taking pride in preparing high-quality food while contributing to the venue's energy. With your previous cooking experience, you will lead the kitchen space, ensuring consistency and quality, while collaborating closely with management to shape the culinary experience at Toby's!
