Toby's Estate is seeking a Cafe Supervisor for our Newstead flagship cafe in Brisbane. You will lead both front-of-house and barista duties, ensuring exceptional coffee experiences and smooth daily operations.

Ideal candidates bring hospitality excellence, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, and a passion for building strong guest relationships. This full-time role includes primary responsibility for opening/closing and team coordination.

Responsibilities

• Perform all Barista and FOH duties.
• Lead the cafe team in the Cafe Manager's absence.
• Cash handling, float management and till reconciliation.
• Assist with coffee ordering and stock control processes.
• Oversee opening and closing, start/break and finishing times.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and quality control on equipment.

Job description

Toby started roasting in his Mum's garage in Woolloomooloo nearly 30 years ago, and there's a been a change or two along the way. These days, Toby has left the building, but we've welcomed three new cafes to the fold – Newstead in Brisbane, Fitzroy in Melbourne and an outpost in Singapore, not to mention our Chippendale Flagship cafe won best coffee shop in the world in 2025 (and top 5 in 2026). We're exploding on the international scene too – with Japan and New York on the cards, and licensees and roasteries in nine countries, and counting. But the DNA hasn't changed – we are leaders in specialty coffee for a reason.

Why join us as our Cafe Supervisor?

As our Cafe Supervisor, you'll play a key role in creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere and delivering exceptional coffee experiences for our customers. You'll support day-to-day café operations by performing all Barista and FOH duties while assisting to lead the team in the Café Manager's absence. As part of this, this role will include cash handling, float management and till reconciliation, assisting with coffee ordering and stock control processes, overseeing front and back of house staff for start, break and finishing times, coordinating cafe opening and closing, and carrying out preventative maintenance and quality control on equipment.
