Job summary

Hotel Federal in Lauderdale, Tasmania, is seeking two experienced full-time chefs to join our busy café team. You will prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes, ensuring high quality, taste and presentation while maintaining hygiene and stock control in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have relevant Commercial Cookery or Hospitality qualifications, strong food safety knowledge, and the ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Formal cookery qualification required.
• Experience in a fast-paced café/kitchen environment preferred.
• Strong effort and pride in high-quality food.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of café-style breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes.
• Ensure consistent food quality, taste and presentation.
• Manage food preparation and service during busy periods.
• Follow recipes, portion sizes and presentation standards.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies.
• Minimise food wastage and maintain proper stock rotation.
• Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen.
• Follow food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Work closely with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
• Assist with menu preparation and development where required.
