Job summary

Bright Labs in Melbourne is seeking a passionate, experienced Full-Stack Developer to join our growing team. You’ll contribute to development of websites and web apps, work with production and creative teams, and help deliver projects to specification.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of commercial development experience on websites and web apps.
• Strong English communication, both spoken and written.
• Ability to work as part of a team and solve problems analytically.
• Solid back-end experience with PHP, Laravel, Craft CMS and WordPress.
• Experience building and consuming REST/GraphQL APIs and third-party APIs.
• Strong front-end skills: HTML, CSS, SCSS, Tailwind; JavaScript with Vue.js, Nuxt, TypeScript.
• Experience with SSR headless setups using Nuxt, Astro and Vue.js.
• Familiarity with Git workflows and Bitbucket; Linux systems knowledge.

The opportunity

The Bright Labs team is growing, and we are looking for a passionate, experienced Full-Stack Developer to join our growing team.

If you're a Full-Stack Developer with strong attention to detail, the ability to think outside the box and an attitude toward continual learning, we would like to talk to you.

Reporting to the Technical, the role requires you to contribute to the development of projects and ongoing website enhancements and maintenance. You will work closely with our Production and Creative teams to deliver projects to specification. The position offers you the ability to expand your experience in the digital agency landscape, and Bright Labs is committed to investing in staff training and your career development.

What we're looking for

• 4+ years of commercial development experience working on websites and web applications (preferably in an agency environment);

• Good communication skills, spoken and written English;

• Ability to work as part of a team;

• Analytical and problem solving skills;

• Strong background in back-end technologies PHP, SQL, Laravel, Craft CMS, WordPress;

• Proficiency both integrating with and building APIs, REST APIs, GraphQL, 3rd Party APIs;

• Solid understanding and experience with HTML, CSS, SCSS, Tailwind CSS;

• Extensive knowledge with front-end technologies JavaScript (ECMAScript, ES6), Vue JS, Nuxt, TypeScript, Astro.

• Experience with SSR headless implementations, primarily using Nuxt, Astro & Vue JS.

• Good knowledge of tools such as GIT and BitBucket;

• Knowledge of Linux systems, interacting with Linux systems over the web, SSH;

• Emphasis on the use of best practices in all aspects of web development.

Bonus points for

• Relevant Bachelor Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science;

• Experience configuring, maintaining, and debugging web servers, NGINX, Apache;

• Experience with PHP CMS platforms;

• Familiarity with automated testing, PHPUnit tests, Selenium, Cypress or other;

• Experience in Laravel Nova, Filament, Statamic, Backpack;

• Knowledge of other front-end frameworks and technologies;

• A solid understanding of website usability, accessibility and security;

• Developing sites that are SEO friendly and optimised for speed;

• Experience using AI to augment development activities.
