The position is based from the Abbotsford (Melbourne) office with flexibility for the right arrangement. Our distributed engineering team collaborates across Australia and internationally, aligning with Melbourne leadership and local developers.

We're looking for a Senior Software Developer to help build and evolve modern web applications using Laravel and Vue.js. While this is our primary stack, we're open to experienced backend engineers from other modern PHP frameworks (such as Symfony) who are excited to learn Laravel

More than specific framework experience, we're looking for someone with strong engineering judgement. Someone who collaborates well, shares knowledge, gives and receives feedback, and understands that good software is built by balancing trade-offs. Sometimes the right solution is the technically elegant one; other times it's the one that's most consistent, maintainable, or delivers the greatest value to the client. We're looking for someone who can make those decisions thoughtfully.

This role is primarily based from our Abbotsford (Melbourne) office. Our engineering team is distributed across Australia and internationally, but this role works closely with our Melbourne-based leadership team and local developers. We offer flexibility where it makes sense, but we're looking for someone who enjoys being part of the office and contributing to the team culture.

What you'll be doing

What we're looking for

• Strong commercial experience building backend applications with Laravel or another modern PHP framework such as Symfony.
• Excellent knowledge of PHP and modern software engineering practices.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills.
• Experience working with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Experience writing automated tests and producing clean, maintainable code.
• Experience with Vue.js or another modern frontend framework (such as React, Angular or Svelte), or a willingness to quickly become productive in Vue.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
• A willingness to learn, adapt and work across different products and domains.

Nice to have

• Experience with TypeScript.
• Experience with queues, caching and asynchronous processing.
• Experience working with AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment practices.
• Experience working in an agency or consultancy environment.
