Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to high-performance, accessible web experiences across desktop and mobile. You will build reusable components, document development work, and deliver quality software within budget and schedule while embracing best practices in performance, security and SEO.

The role emphasizes collaboration, modern front-end tooling, automated testing and post-release monitoring, with opportunities to work across ABC digital

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience building scalable, complex, secure, accessible (WCAG 2.0), highly performant and responsive web experiences.
• Advanced front-end skills with React and TypeScript; experience in Next.js or similar frameworks.
• Experience with modern frameworks and tools; automated testing across unit, integration and end-to-end levels.
• Experience with at least one server-side language, preferably Node.js.
• Experience with CI/CD, automation pipelines, production monitoring, and post-release stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to analysis, design and development of reusable components for ABC digital properties.
• Ensure high-quality technical documentation for all development work.
• Deliver high-quality product development within timeframes and budget constraints.
• Maintain awareness of best practices in performance, security, SEO, and accessibility; identify improvement opportunities.
• Contribute to development standards and best practices across teams.
