Job summary

Maddocks in Canberra is seeking an Associate or Senior Associate (4-8 year PQE) to join our front-end construction, contracts and procurement team. You will work on construction and infrastructure matters for government, developers and major contractors, with exposure to high-quality, commercial advice.

The role offers a supportive team, training and opportunities to progress, with a flexible hybrid work arrangement across the office and home.

Qualifications

• Currently be working as a front-end lawyer in a construction or projects team or have strong commercial/contracting and procurement experience that could be applied to the construction sector
• Have strong technical legal skills and a genuine interest in working in the construction and infrastructure sector
• Have a client-focused approach with a sound understanding of commercial drivers
• Be able to demonstrate exceptional contract and advice drafting skills
• Be an independent thinker, comfortable learning new concepts quickly

Responsibilities

• Provide front-end construction, contracts and procurement advice on projects
• Draft sophisticated contracts and provide commercial advice on procurement strategies
• Collaborate with partners and clients across government and industry to deliver practical solutions
• Support career development and training within a close-knit team
