ION is seeking a freelance infrastructure finance reporter based in Sydney to deliver high-quality, exclusive journalism on infrastructure investment activity across Australia and the APAC region. The role focuses on greenfield project finance, PPPs, debt transactions, and M&A, with real-time reporting and deeper analysis for institutional investors and advisers.

The position offers autonomy over content generation, with opportunities to cover energy transition, transport, water, and digital

Qualifications

• Proven experience in financial journalism, ideally infrastructure or project finance.
• Strong track record of exclusive reporting and developing proprietary angles.
• Established network of sources in Australian and APAC infrastructure markets.

Responsibilities

• Produce a consistent pipeline of exclusive articles and analysis on infrastructure finance transactions and investment trends in Australia and APAC.
• Break news on project finance deals, M&A, debt/equity fundraising, and secondary market activity.
• Interview senior decision-makers and attend key industry events across Australia and APAC.
