Job summary

Avanade is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy next-generation AI solutions powered by LLMs, AI Agents, and Agentic AI frameworks. You will work at the intersection of AI, software engineering and cloud platforms to deliver AI-powered applications using Azure AI Foundry and Azure OpenAI across enterprise data platforms.

The role focuses on developing agentic AI solutions, RAG and knowledge engineering while ensuring secure, observable, and scalable deployments with MLOps

AI EngineerRole SummaryAs an AI Engineer at Avanade, you will design, build, and deploy next-generation AI solutions powered by Large Language Models (LLMs), AI Agents, and Agentic AI frameworks. Join AI Services as a hands‑on Engineer delivering defined AI features and components from design through to production support.

You will work across software, data, AI, integration and operations, using approved AI tools to improve delivery while keeping human review, traceability and accountability at the centre of every outcome.

What will you do?

• Design, build, test, release and support defined AI service features and components.
• Engineer across software, data, AI, integration and user experience where the work requires it.
• Create clear code, automated tests, documentation, runbooks and release evidence.
• Apply established patterns for security, privacy, Responsible AI, observability, recovery and operational resilience.
• Contribute to design reviews, code reviews, incident learning and continuous improvement.

• Working AI service capability across ML, LLMs, RAG, agents, evaluation, tool controls, monitoring and fallback.
• Experience with secure coding, automated testing, CI/CD, observability and production support.
• An understanding of traceability, evidence, privacy, human approval and control‑aware delivery.
• Clear communication, curiosity, collaboration and a willingness to learn from review and operational feedback.

You will own defined features and components with growing autonomy, supported by Senior and Lead AI Engineers as you broaden your technical judgement and delivery scope.

Additionally, you will help deliver practical AI outcomes while applying Westpac engineering, security, privacy, Responsible AI, risk and operational resilience requirements. Approved AI tools may support delivery, but people remain accountable for design, controls, review and production decisions.
