Job summary

Slate, the AI-native lending platform in Australia, is seeking a Founding Engineer to own a product domain end to end. You'll decide what to build, collaborate with credit analysts and brokers, and ship features that run in production with AI agents and deterministic credit rules.

You’ll work in a small, influential team, shaping roadmap, UX and system architecture while maintaining high quality in a fast-moving, regulated fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and shipping production software.
• Comfortable across the stack, especially modern TypeScript/React frontends.
• Hands-on experience building with AI coding agents day to day.
• Track record of shipping product used by real users, ideally at a startup.
• Experience in lending, fintech or another regulated industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own a product domain end-to-end, decide what to build and ship it with AI, data, agents and people.
• Shape the roadmap, design the experience and run it in production, with credit analysts and brokers as collaborators.
• Work with AI agents and verification pipelines to ensure accuracy and auditable decisions.
• Collaborate with credit policy, payments and regulatory requirements to maintain compliant systems.
