Job summary

OzChild in Ipswich is seeking a dedicated Foster and Kinship Care Case Worker to support prospective and accredited carers. You will complete home visits, assessments and documentation, advocate for carers, and collaborate with Child Safety Officers and teams to ensure appropriate matching for children and young people.

This role requires a social work qualification and experience in out-of-home care, with a strong emphasis on training and carer support. A driver’s licence is required.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Social Work or an equivalent qualification recognised in Australia.
• Experience in Out-of-Home Care, child protection, family services or complex case management
• Knowledge of child protection legislation and practice.
• Experience in assessment, advocacy and supporting families experiencing complexity.
• Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to facilitate training and support carers to develop their skills and confidence.
• A current driver's licence and access to reliable transport

Responsibilities

• Complete all home visits and documentation with carers as part of the welcome and onboarding process.
• Conduct carer renewal assessments as part of reviews and ongoing compliance activities.
• Build strong, supportive relationships with foster and kinship carers.
• Advocate for carers and provide guidance, support and purposeful interventions throughout their caring journey.
• Work collaboratively with Intake and program teams to support appropriate matching of children and young people with carers.
• Work closely with Departmental Child Safety Officers and other key stakeholders.
• Support carer development through training, resources and ongoing professional development.
• Maintain accurate case records, reports and accreditation documentation.
• Contribute to initiatives that improve the carer experience and outcomes for children and young people.
