Job summary

UnitingCare Queensland in Cairns is seeking a Placement Worker for Foster and Kinship to support carers and children. You will handle intake, referrals, assessments and matching to placement options.

The role is permanent full-time with flexible work options, located in Cairns with outreach to surrounding areas. A Bachelor’s in Social Work or equivalent, plus driver’s license and Blue Card, are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Experience in Child Protection and delivering Foster and Kinship Care services to children and families.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field highly desirable (e.g. Social Work, Psychology or Social Science)
• Cert IV in Training and Assessor highly desirable
• Current drivers' licence
• A Blue Card or willingness to apply for one
• Willing to undergo a history check under Child Protection Act 1999 requirements

Responsibilities

• Provide intake/referrals and assist with matching children to carer placements.
• Deliver quality care training for carer applicants.
• Assist with licensing data reporting and record keeping.
• Conduct foster care applicant interviews and initial assessments.
• Supervise and develop carers to strengthen service delivery.
