Job summary

Staable Pty Ltd is seeking a Formwork Carpenter to join our concrete construction team in New South Wales. You will build, install and strip formwork for concrete pours, following drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy, stability and readiness for each pour.

Key duties include measuring, cutting and assembling timber and plywood formwork, interpreting drawings and ensuring dimensions and tolerances are correct.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Formwork or Carpentry, or equivalent recognised in Australia.
• Experience in formwork carpentry on civil, commercial or residential projects.

Responsibilities

• Construct, assemble, erect and install formwork for slabs, footings, beams, columns, walls, stairs and kerbs.
• Measure, cut, shape and assemble timber, plywood and other formwork materials.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and formwork layouts.
• Set out and check dimensions, levels and tolerances.
• Install props, bracing and temporary supports.
• Carry out pre-pour checks and fix defects before concrete is placed.
• Safely strip formwork and prepare materials for reuse.
• Collaborate with concreters and other trades to meet pour programmes.

Job Description

Staable Pty Ltd Reporting to the Site Supervisor, you will build, install and strip formwork systems for concrete construction, working from drawings and specifications to make sure the formwork is accurate, stable and ready for each pour.

Key duties

• Construct, assemble, erect and install formwork for slabs, footings, beams, columns, walls, stairs and kerbs
• Measure, cut, shape and assemble timber, plywood and other formwork materials to the required dimensions
• Read and interpret construction drawings, formwork layouts, structural details and specifications
• Set out and check dimensions, levels, alignment and tolerances before and during installation
• Install props, bracing and temporary supports to keep the formwork stable during concrete placement
• Install construction joints, rebates, block-outs, penetrations and cast-in items
• Carry out pre-pour checks and fix any defects before concrete is placed
• Safely strip formwork, props and supports without damaging the finished concrete, then clean, sort and stack materials for reuse
• Work with concreters, steel fixers, plant operators and other trades to meet pour programmes
• Comply with WHS legislation, SWMS and site safety rules, including working at heights

Qualifications

• Qualification in Carpentry or Formwork (Certificate III or equivalent), or relevant trade skills recognised in Australia

Experience and skills

• At least 1 years' hands-on experience in formwork carpentry on civil, commercial or residential projects
• Ability to read construction drawings and set out formwork accurately
• Sound knowledge of formwork bracing, propping and safe stripping procedures
• Safe, competent use of carpentry hand tools, power tools and construction equipment
• Current NSW General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
• Current driver's licence and reliable transport to travel to sites across the regions listed
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a site team
