Job summary

Fine Line Formwork is seeking a skilled Carpenter (Formwork Carpenter) for a full-time, permanent position in Sydney, NSW. Read drawings, measure and assemble timber, plywood and formwork components for concrete slabs, columns, walls, beams and stairs.

You will ensure accurate alignment, safety on site, and collaborate with supervisors and trades. A relevant carpentry trade qualification, at least 2 years formwork experience, and a valid White Card are required.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Carpentry or equivalent.
• At least 2 years experience in carpentry or concrete formwork.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications.
• Proficiency with carpentry tools, measuring equipment and formwork systems.
• Strong understanding of construction site safety requirements.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid White Card (Construction Induction Card).

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications to plan and carry out formwork carpentry tasks.
• Measure, cut, shape and assemble timber, plywood and other materials required for concrete formwork construction.
• Construct and install formwork for concrete slabs, columns, walls, beams, staircases and other structural components.
• Assemble and secure formwork panels, frames, supports and bracing systems for stability and alignment.
• Install and adjust conventional and modular formwork systems for residential and commercial projects.
• Check formwork dimensions, levels and alignment before concrete placement.
• Dismantle formwork after concrete strength is achieved and prepare reusable materials.
• Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment on site.
• Collaborate with site supervisors and trades to complete formwork efficiently and safely.

We provide a wide range of formwork services, including slabs, columns, walls, staircases, beams and suspended concrete structures. We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Carpenter (Formwork Carpenter) to join our growing team on a full-time, permanent basis.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications to plan and carry out formwork carpentry tasks.
• Measure, cut, shape and assemble timber, plywood and other materials required for concrete formwork construction.
• Construct and install formwork for concrete slabs, columns, walls, beams, staircases and other structural components.
• Assemble and secure formwork panels, frames, supports and bracing systems to ensure structural stability and accurate alignment.
• Install and adjust conventional and modular formwork systems, including table forms, where required for residential and commercial construction projects.
• Check completed formwork for correct dimensions, levels, alignment and compliance with project specifications before concrete placement.
• Safely dismantle formwork after concrete has achieved the required strength, and prepare reusable materials for subsequent construction activities.
• Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment, ensuring materials are handled and stored appropriately.
• Work closely with site supervisors and other tradespeople to complete formwork activities efficiently while complying with workplace health and safety requirements.

Skills and Experience Required

• Relevant trade qualification in Carpentry or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in carpentry or concrete formwork.
• Practical experience constructing and installing formwork for residential or commercial concrete structures.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications.
• Proficiency in using carpentry tools, measuring equipment and formwork systems.
• Good understanding of construction site safety requirements and procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability and time management skills.
