Job summary

• Manifest freight, restrain loads and maintain accurate loading processes.
• Follow safe operating procedures and company policies at all times.

Job description

This is a long-term opportunity for a capable forklift operator who takes pride in safe, efficient freight handling. Local Freight offers a full-time casual position, with a pathway to full-time permanent employment for the right person, and competitive remuneration. Work is primarily Monday to Friday, with some Saturday work as required.

Key responsibilities

Load and unload a range of standard and non-standard palletised general freight.

Build blended loads to achieve maximum payloads while maintaining safe load distribution.

Load and unload mezzanine-floor trailers, linehaul trailers and local vehicles.

Manifest freight, restrain loads and maintain accurate loading processes.

Follow safe operating procedures and company policies at all times.

About you

Current forklift licence and confident, practical forklift operating skills.

Experience loading and unloading PUD fleet and mezzanine-floor trailers across mixed or blended general freight.

Sound understanding of axle weights, payloads and load distribution.

Computer literacy and the ability to complete freight manifesting requirements accurately.

A strong commitment to safe work practices, with the ability to work independently when required.

A reliable, motivated approach and the ability to contribute positively to a team.

Experience loading timber (highly regarded).
