Job summary

Lake Macquarie Private Hospital is seeking a dedicated Food Services Assistant to join our professional catering team. You will prepare, present and deliver nutritious meals to patients, ensuring HACCP and food safety standards are met, while providing friendly, patient-focused service.

You’ll work across a 7-day roster, including mornings and afternoons, collaborating with nursing and kitchen staff to support patient recovery in Ramsay Health Care’s Ramsay network.

Qualifications

• Previous prep kitchen or hospital experience preferred but not required.
• Understanding of food safety and HACCP principles.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong customer focus.
• Certificate II or III in Hospitality (desirable).

Located in Gateshead,Lake Macquarie Private Hospital is currently seeking a dedicated Food Services Assistant to join our professional catering team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, presenting, and delivering high-quality, nutritious meals to patients while strictly adhering to food safety and hygiene standards. Working closely with nursing and kitchen staff, you will play a vital role in enhancing the patient experience by providing exceptional, friendly customer service. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to patient care and recovery within a supportive, modern Ramsay Health Care facility.

This role will involve:

• Preparing and delivering high standard, nutritious food and drinks for private hospital patients and doctors.
• Maintaining food hygiene, a clean working area and safety practices.
• Assisting the broader team as required.
• Availability across a 7-day roster, including morning and afternoon shifts.

Your Skills and Experiences

The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic and the ability to remain calm under pressure. You will also be punctual, reliable and with a commitment to genuine, friendly customer service.

• Previous experience in a prep kitchen or hospital environment but not essential.
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene principles
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong customer focus
• Compliance with HACCP, Food Safety and Workplace, Health and Safety
• Certificate II or Certificate III in Hospitality (desirable).
