Job summary

Respect in regional Australia is seeking a Food Services Assistant to work with our Chef or Cook, preparing and serving meals for residents while upholding food safety standards in a regional aged care setting.

You will support menu planning, assist with kitchen and dining operations, and contribute to a friendly, collaborative team with opportunities for development in a not-for-profit environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Food Handling Course.
• Current National Police Check/NDIS (or willingness to obtain).
• Previous experience in residential aged care feed services.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Physical capability to meet the demands of the role.
• A compassionate and respectful approach to aged care.

Responsibilities

• Support menu planning to reflect residents’ needs and dietary requirements.
• Prepare, serve, and present meals and refreshments in line with the Food Safety Program.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and safe food handling practices.
• Monitor and record food safety requirements, including temperatures and goods received.
• Deliver meals with a friendly, respectful approach and report concerns to the Registered Nurse in Charge.

About The Role

As a Food Services Assistant, you'll work alongside our Chef or Cook to prepare and serve meals for residents, while maintaining food safety standards and keeping the kitchen and dining areas running smoothly. Based in a regional community, this role offers a welcoming, close-knit team environment where everyone pitches in, and your contribution is genuinely valued. There will also be opportunities to support across hotel services, including laundry and cleaning duties.

No two days are the same!

As Food Service Assistant you will:

• Support menu planning to reflect residents’ needs, preferences, and dietary requirements.
• Prepare, serve, and present meals and refreshments in line with the Food Safety Program.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, including general cleaning and safe food handling practices.
• Monitor and record food safety requirements, including temperatures and goods received.
• Deliver meals with a friendly, respectful approach and report any food or beverage concerns to the Registered Nurse in Charge.

About You
