FMCG Maintenance Technician

About the role

Keith’s Quality Foods is seeking an experienced FMCG Maintenance Technician with an electrical trade qualification or appropriate restricted electrical licence to join our team.

This hands‑on role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and optimising production machinery, equipment and facilities. Key areas of focus include electrical fault‑finding, preventative maintenance and breakdown response, ensuring our equipment operates safely, reliably and efficiently.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience working with electrical systems and equipment in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

You will play an important role in minimising downtime, improving equipment reliability and supporting continuous improvement while maintaining the highest standards of workplace safety, product quality and food safety.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on production equipment and facilities
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults involving motors, sensors, controls and wiring
• Respond to electrical and mechanical breakdowns and complete repairs efficiently
• Conduct electrical testing, inspections and fault‑finding
• Diagnose and repair pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical faults as required
• Assist with the installation, modification and commissioning of new equipment
• Identify recurring faults and support root‑cause analysis
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
• Follow electrical safety, isolation, lockout/tagout and PPE requirements
• Work closely with production staff to minimise downtime and optimise equipment performance
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with WHS, food safety, HACCP and GMP requirements
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, processes and overall efficiency

About you

You will have:

• An electrical trade qualification or appropriate restricted electrical licence—essential
• Proven maintenance experience within an FMCG or manufacturing environment
• Strong electrical fault‑finding, diagnostic and problem‑solving skills
• The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Sound mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting skills
• The ability to work autonomously, prioritise tasks and respond effectively to breakdowns
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A proactive, hands‑on approach and a strong focus on equipment reliability
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to workplace safety, product quality and food safety
• Flexibility to work afternoon shifts and respond to callouts when required
• Computer literacy and familiarity with Computerised Maintenance Management systems (CMMS)
