Wollongong City Council is seeking a Floodplain Management Coordinator to lead a small team of professionals and provide specialist technical leadership across floodplain risk management, studies, modelling, and infrastructure planning. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external agencies to deliver safer, more resilient outcomes for Wollongong.

This permanent full-time role offers a 35-hour week, salary up to $144,552 per year plus superannuation, with a 3.5% Civil Liability

Competenze

• Engineering degree required.
• Experience in floodplain risk management, flood studies and flood modelling.
• Knowledge of the NSW Flood Risk Management Framework and related legislation (Dam Safety NSW Act and Regulation).
• Demonstrated leadership in a technical/engineering environment.

Mansioni

• Lead Council's floodplain management team and provide expert technical advice on floodplain management matters.
• Manage and oversee flood studies, flood modelling projects, floodplain risk management studies and plans, and flood mitigation projects.
• Lead and develop a high-performing technical team with clear direction and coaching.
• Provide specialist advice to Council, executive leaders, government agencies, consultants, developers, and community stakeholders.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in floodplain management practices, systems and processes.
• Oversee complex projects from planning through to delivery, ensuring legislative and environmental compliance.
• Build productive relationships with industry peers, government agencies, research organisations and stakeholders.
• Translate complex technical information into practical advice for informed decision-making.
• Contribute to infrastructure strategic planning and resilience initiatives.
