Job summary

Wollongong City Council is seeking a Floodplain Management Coordinator to lead a small expert team and provide specialist leadership across flood studies, modelling, and risk management. The role shapes infrastructure planning and resilience initiatives for the community.

You will translate complex technical information into practical guidance for senior leaders, industry, and the community, guiding strategic decisions and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Engineering and related field.
• Experience in floodplain risk management, flood studies and flood modelling.
• Strong knowledge of NSW Flood Risk Management Framework and related legislation.

Responsibilities

• Lead Council's floodplain management team and provide expert technical advice.
• Oversee flood studies, modelling projects, risk management plans and mitigation initiatives.
• Develop a high-performing technical team with clear direction and coaching.
• Provide specialist advice to Council, agencies, consultants, and stakeholders.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in floodplain management practices.
