Job summary

Mount Isa Special School invites applications for a Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities. The role supports the Principal, Business Manager or delegate by delivering high-level grounds and facilities services across the school site in a remote Queensland setting.

You will maintain grounds, perform routine maintenance, operate equipment and assist with events, store management and site security. Applications from shortlisting agencies are not accepted and the role may be extended up to 12

Responsibilities

• Maintain school grounds, gardens, ovals and sporting facilities.
• Undertake routine maintenance and minor repairs to facilities, furniture and equipment.
• Operate and maintain grounds maintenance tools and equipment.
• Assist with school events, room setups, furniture movement and general facilities support.
• Manage stores, supplies, stocktaking and school assets.
• Support school security, including opening and locking buildings.
• Manage waste and general cleanliness of grounds and facilities.
• Maintain safe work practices and ensure equipment, chemicals and materials are safely handled.
• Liaise with contractors and tradespeople regarding maintenance requirements.
