Sydney Polytechnic Institute – Sydney CBD NSW is seeking an experienced librarian to join us on a casual basis, with flexible hours and immediate start. The role focuses on growing a small library, developing services and systems, and ensuring compliance with copyright and reporting requirements.

Based in a central city location, you will support students and staff, work independently, and shape library practices in a growing private higher education provider.

Qualifications

• ALIA-accredited qualification and eligibility for Associate membership of ALIA
• Sound knowledge of library and information service concepts, principles and theory
• Demonstrated experience in a higher education or VET library environment
• Understanding of library technologies, including library management systems
• Full working rights in Australia

Responsabilités

• Develop the library function of the Institute, including its systems, services and processes
• Provide information and advice on library resources, systems, services and support
• Provide library services to students and staff
• Support and mentor students in using the library, and provide effective solutions or refer them to specialist assistance where appropriate
• Resolve routine and non-routine issues, escalating as appropriate
• Ensure SPI complies with education copyright obligations and the Copyright Act 1968
• Ensure all library practices meet compliance and reporting requirements
• Identify and contribute to continuous improvement of systems, policies and procedures
• Contribute to preparing procedural documents, and to reviewing and improving existing procedures and online information
• Other duties as reasonably requested by your supervisor
