Job summary

UnitingCare Queensland is seeking a Placement Worker in Cairns to support Foster and Kinship carers and the children in their care. Based at Cairns with outreach to surrounding areas, you will manage intake, referrals, and match children to care placements.

Qualifications

• Experience in Child Protection and delivering Foster and Kinship Care services.
• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology or Social Science highly desirable.
• Cert IV in Training and Assessor highly desirable.
• Current drivers’ licence and Blue Card; willing to apply if not held.
• Willingness to undergo a history check under the Child Protection Act 1999 for Licensing.

Responsibilities

• Provide intake and referrals support and assist with matching children to carer households.
• Conduct foster care applicant interviews and initial assessments; assist with renewals and licensing.
• Support and supervise carers; contribute to data reporting and licensing documentation.
