Job summary

VMCH is hiring a Cafe Disability Support Worker for the Kensington Café and Mobile Coffee Van. You will coach participants to build hospitality skills, confidence and independence while delivering great coffee and a welcoming experience.

The role combines hands-on disability support with hospitality, traveling between the Kensington café and the van on rostered shifts, including occasional weekends. You’ll work to meet individual goals and ensure safety and quality across sites.

Qualifications

• Solid barista and hospitality experience with coffee machines and grinders.
• Experience supporting or mentoring people with disability with patience and clarity.
• Valid Victorian driver’s licence and confidence driving a coffee van or designated vehicle.
• Current First Aid and Food Safety Handling certificates, a NDIS Worker Screening Check and a Victorian Working with Children Check.
• Initiative and sound judgement to work with a team or independently, including occasional weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Teach and practise barista, food preparation and customer service.
• Coach participants and record progress against goals.
• Make coffee, serve food and create a friendly café and van experience.
• Drive, set up, stock, and close the van on rostered shifts, ensuring participant safety during visits.
• Complete program records and follow food safety and vehicle safety procedures.
