Job summary

ONS TRANSPORT PTY LTD is seeking a Fleet Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the vehicle fleet, coordinate drivers, and optimise logistics across Sydney. The role includes procurement decisions, leasing vs buying, and maintaining regulatory compliance.

You will manage registrations, insurance, permits, and licensing, along with accurate record-keeping using fleet systems. Collaboration with clients to meet delivery requirements and drive efficiency is essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the fleet, including logistics and driver coordination.
• Select and procure vehicles, decide leasing vs purchasing, and dispose of old/non-functional vehicles.
• Ensure compliance with road transport regulations and OH&S standards.
• Handle vehicle registrations, insurance, permits and licensing and renewals.
• Coordinate with clients to understand delivery requirements and advise on vehicle types.
• Plan scheduling and routes to ensure timely and efficient movements of goods.
• Respond to breakdowns, accidents, and manage insurance and risk matters.
• Utilise fleet management systems and GPS tracking to optimise delivery times.
• Maintain business records including vehicle usage, fuel, maintenance, and reporting.

The right candidate will be responsible for executing the full responsibilities of a Fleet Manager

Key Responsibilities

• To manage the day-to-day operations of the company’s vehicle fleet, including logistics and driver coordination.
• To select and procure vehicles, deciding on leasing or purchasing, and managing the disposal of old or non-functional vehicles.
• To ensure compliance with road transport regulations and Occupational Health and Safety standards (including temperature control and hygiene standards), and internal company policies.
• To manage the registration, insurance, permits, and licensing for all company vehicles and ensuring timely renewals.
• To coordinate with the clients to understand the delivery requirements, providing advice on vehicle type, and resolving issues or complaints.
• To plan and implement scheduling and transportation routes, ensuring timely and efficient movement of goods.
• To respond to vehicle breakdowns, accidents, and managing insurance and risk matters.
• To use the fleet management systems and GPS tracking software to optimize delivery times.
• To maintain the business records including vehicle usage logs, fuel consumption, maintenance history, and preparing the operational reports.
