Job summary

Brumby in Sydney is building autonomous drones for cattle management and is seeking a hands-on software engineer to own the platform end-to-end. You will connect Brumby’s fleet to the cloud, ensure flight logs and video feeds reach AWS, and drive infrastructure, backend services, and planning tools.

The role involves shipping updates without grounding aircraft, working across the stack, and delivering reliable OTA updates in a field environment. On-site in Australia with equity on offer.

Qualifications

• Must have production AWS experience with infrastructure as code
• Strong backend engineering in Python and FastAPI including Postgres and migrations
• Frontend work across TypeScript/React and Electron apps
• Experience building reliable CI/CD pipelines with staging and rollback

Responsibilities

• Build and manage AWS infrastructure completely as code
• Develop FleetOps: backend, internal dashboard, and customer apps
• Create edge sync between aircraft, docks, and cloud for intermittent connections
• Own OTA updates and safe staged rollouts across the fleet
• Implement monitoring and alerting to pre-empt issues
