Job summary

CQUniversity is seeking a VET Teacher in Fitting and Machining to train and mentor trades apprentices. You’ll transition from industry to classroom, delivering hands-on training and assessments, supported by a fully funded TAEs and relocation help.

No teaching experience is required; we provide a funded teaching qualification and ongoing guidance, while you bring real-world expertise and a passion for teaching.

Qualifications

• Relevant trade qualification, such as Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade.
• Current hands-on industry experience in mechanical trade work, including fitting, machining, equipment maintenance and safe workshop practices.
• An interest in mentoring apprentices.
• No teaching experience required – willingness to work in a structured setting with assessment, documentation and student support.

Responsibilities

• Teach, prepare, mark and provide student support within a 36.25-hour week.
• Teaching time is typically 22 hrs/week; overtime may apply where required.
• Preparation and marking are included in paid hours.
• Flexible start and finish times around teaching needs.
