Job summary

CQUniversity is seeking a highly skilled fitter or machinist to transition into a VET Teacher role in Gladstone. You’ll teach and mentor apprentices in the Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade while bringing real-world industry experience into the classroom and workshop.

No teaching experience is required; a fully funded TAE40122 qualification will be provided and supported during employment. A relocation option is available with a competitive salary and 5.4 weeks annual leave.

Qualifications

• Relevant trade qualification, such as Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade.
• Current hands-on industry experience in mechanical trade work, including fitting, machining, equipment maintenance and safe workshop practices.
• An interest in mentoring apprentices, sharing your knowledge and guiding learners in both workshop and classroom settings.
• No teaching experience required – only a willingness to work in a structured setting with assessment, documentation and student support.

Responsibilities

• Teach and mentor apprentices in the Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade.
• Prepare lesson plans, assessments and provide student support.
• Deliver hands-on training in workshop and classroom settings.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure alignment with AQF requirements.
