Job summary

Austchrome, based in Mackay, is seeking a Fitter & Turner specialising in hydraulics to join our Paget workshop. You will disassemble, inspect, and reassemble hydraulic cylinders and components, measure with precision tooling, perform NDT testing and hydraulic tests, and read detailed drawings.

Safety and teamwork are essential. The role offers day and afternoon shifts with partial night flexibility, and the successful candidate will contribute to a safe, productive workplace while supporting

Qualifications

• Hold the relevant trade qualifications.
• Experience overhauling hydraulic cylinders preferred.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings to tight tolerances.
• Commitment to safety and team wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, inspect and assemble hydraulic cylinders and components.
• Perform precision measurements and basic failure analysis.
• Conduct NDT crack testing and hydraulic testing of cylinders.
• Read detailed drawings and operate hydraulic testing equipment.
• Maintain high safety standards and comply with work instructions.

About the Position

Based in our Paget Workshop, as a Fitter & Turner, specialising in hydraulics, you will be required to:

• Perform the disassembly, inspection and assembly of hydraulic cylinders and engineering components.
• Measuring with precision tooling, basic failure analysis, perform NDT crack testing of components and hydraulic testing of cylinders.
• Read/interpret detailed drawings
• Operate hydraulic machinery and testing equipment
• Maintain a very high standard of safety and compliance to work instructions

About you

To be successful as a Fitter & Turner with the Austchrome Team, you will require:

• Hold the Relevant Trade Qualifications
• Experience with overhauling Hydraulic Cylinders. Preferred but not essential
• Ability to disassemble, measure, inspect, assemble and test general components.
• Can read and understand engineering drawings and work to fine tolerances
• Possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Be committed to safety and the wellbeing of yourself and your teammates
• Work well in a team environment and support the learning of apprentices
• Can pass a Pre employment medical and Drug and alcohol test
