Job summary

Austchrome, based in Mackay, is seeking a Machinist to manufacture and reclaim hydraulic components using manual and CNC lathes, borers and grinders. You will read complex drawings, perform precision checks, and join an experienced team across machining and plating. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will contribute to a supportive, skilled workplace with strong standards and long-term stability within the Sime industrial group.

Responsibilities

• Manufacturing and reclamation of hydraulic components.
• Operate Manual/CNC Lathes and Borers and grinders.
• Read and interpret CAD drawings and specs to produce to specification.
• Perform in-process quality checks with micrometers and precision tools.
• Collaborate with trades across machining, fabrication, fitting and plating.
• Maintain a safe, compliant work environment and follow all policies.

Responsibilities:

As a Machinist at Austchrome, you’ll be involved in manufacturing and reclamation of hydraulic components using:

• Manual Lathes, Horizontal and Vertical Bores and Cylindrical grinders.
• CNC Lathes and Horizontal and Vertical Borers running Fanuc controllers.
• Reading and interpreting complex engineering and CAD drawings to produce jobs to specifications.
• Conducting in-process quality checks with micrometers and other precision measuring tools.
• Collaborating in a team environment with experienced tradespeople across machining, fabrication, fitting and plating.
• Take responsibility for maintaining and improving a safe working environment and following all policies, procedures and safe work instructions.
