Job summary

Austchrome, based in Mackay and part of Sime Industrial Services, is seeking a Fitter & Turner specialising in hydraulics. Based at Paget Workshop, you will disassemble, inspect, assemble hydraulic cylinders and components, read drawings and test hydraulic systems.

You will maintain high safety standards, pass a pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol tests, and support apprentices. This is a permanent full-time role with industry-leading pay rates and strong team culture in a stable regional

Qualifications

• Hold the relevant trade qualifications.
• Experience with overhauling hydraulic cylinders is preferred but not essential.
• Ability to disassemble, measure, inspect, assemble and test general components.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and work to fine tolerances.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail; safety focused.

About the Position

Based in our Paget Workshop, as a Fitter & Turner, specialising in hydraulics, you will be required to:

• Perform the disassembly, inspection and assembly of hydraulic cylinders and engineering components.
• Measuring with precision tooling, basic failure analysis, perform NDT crack testing of components and hydraulic testing of cylinders.
• Read/interpret detailed drawings
• Operate hydraulic machinery and testing equipment
• Maintain a very high standard of safety and compliance to work instructions

About you

• Hold the Relevant Trade Qualifications
• Experience with overhauling Hydraulic Cylinders. Preferred but not essential
• Ability to disassemble, measure, inspect, assemble and test general components.
• Can read and understand engineering drawings and work to fine tolerances
• Possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Be committed to safety and the wellbeing of yourself and your teammates
• Work well in a team environment and support the learning of apprentices
