Job summary

Gas and Oil Field Maintenance Pty Ltd, t/as Rim Equipment, is seeking a full-time Fitter (General) to inspect, diagnose, dismantle, repair, fit, and test mechanical components and hydraulic systems on heavy earthmoving equipment. This hands-on workshop role focuses on fitting and refurbishment before resale.

You will read technical drawings, use precision measuring tools, and work with teams to identify defects, repair drives and undercarriage components, and ensure safety procedures.

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate III or IV with on‑the‑job training; minimum two years experience.
• Three years of relevant heavy earthmoving equipment experience can substitute qualifications.
• Demonstrated mechanical fitting and hydraulic fault‑finding on heavy machinery.

Responsibilities

• Inspect machinery for defects and required repairs.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical assemblies, drives, transmissions and undercarriage components.
• Diagnose hydraulic faults and service pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses and related parts.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain repair records and job cards.

Fitter (General) – Heavy Earthmoving Equipment

Job Description

GAS AND OIL FIELD MAINTENANCE PTY. LTD. We are currently seeking a full-time skilled Fitter (General) to inspect, diagnose, dismantle, repair, fit, assemble, align and test mechanical components and hydraulic systems of heavy earthmoving equipment.

This is a hands‑on, workshop‑based role focused on mechanical fitting and refurbishment before equipment resale. Benefits The successful applicant will receive an annual salary plus superannuation, determined by their level of skill and experience.

Task & responsibilities

Key responsibilities Inspect incoming machinery and identify mechanical and hydraulic defects and required repairs. Diagnose and repair mechanical assemblies, drives, transmissions, final drives, undercarriage components, pins, bushes and bearings, as applicable. Diagnose hydraulic faults and remove, fit, replace and test pumps, valves, cylinders, hoses and associated components.

Measure, fit, align and adjust mechanical components to technical specifications and tolerances. Test equipment after repairs and perform related servicing and preventative maintenance. Follow safe isolation and workshop procedures and maintain accurate job cards and repair records.

Coordinate specialist work with external contractors when required.

Qualification & experience

Qualifications and experience A level of skill commensurate with an AQF Certificate III, including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV plus at least one year of relevant work experience. At least three years of relevant experience in lieu of qualifications.

Demonstrated mechanical fitting and hydraulic fault‑finding experience on heavy earthmoving equipment, mechanical plant or comparable industrial machinery. Ability to read technical drawings and manufacturer documentation and use precision measuring and fitting tools. Sound workshop safety practices and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
