Job summary

Active Contracting Pty Ltd, a workshop-based fitter role located near Adelaide, seeks a qualified fitter to assemble and fit parts for customised fleet builds. You will interpret drawings, set up machinery, weld, fabricate and troubleshoot to meet customer specs.

We offer a permanent full-time position, PPE provided, and licences training; salary 75k–85k plus super. Located 20 minutes north of Adelaide CBD in Wingfield SA.

Qualifications

• Relevant Cert 3 or 4 qualification and 1 year of full-time work experience, or 3 years of work experience in lieu of qualifications.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to work safely and follow safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings, specs and work instructions to determine materials and methods.
• Assemble, install and align mechanical components and machinery to spec.
• Inspect components with precision measuring equipment for tolerances and quality.
• Set up machine tools and production machinery to achieve required outcomes.
• Manufacture, weld, modify and repair metal components using drilling, milling, grinding and other processes.
• Troubleshoot faults and implement effective repair solutions.
• Perform preventative maintenance and servicing to maximise reliability.

Job description

Join Active Contracting Pty Ltd as a Fitter at our workshop based 20 minutes north of the Adelaide CBD.

Location: Wingfield SA 5013

What is the role?

Working as part of a tight-knit workshop team, this position will be responsible for fitting and assembling various parts as part of customised fleet building projects according to customer requirements.

Duties and responsibilities for this position are including, but not limited to:

• Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and work instructions to determine materials, equipment requirements and the most efficient method of manufacture or repair.
• Assemble, install and align mechanical components, fabricated steelwork and machinery to required operational standards.
• Inspect finished components and assemblies using precision measuring equipment to ensure compliance with tolerances, fit and quality requirements.
• Set up and adjust machine tools, cutting equipment and production machinery to achieve required machining outcomes and product specifications.
• Manufacture, weld, modify and repair metal components through drilling, boring, grinding, milling, pressing and other machining processes.
• Fabricate, route and install hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including associated pipework, fittings and components.
• Troubleshoot mechanical faults and equipment failures, identifying root causes and implementing effective repair solutions.
• Conduct preventative maintenance, servicing and overhaul of machinery, mechanical systems and fluid power equipment to maximise reliability and performance.
• Replace, refurbish and reassemble worn or damaged mechanical parts in accordance with manufacturer and engineering requirements.
• Assist with the installation, commissioning and relocation of plant and equipment at customer or operational sites.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and service records and ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety, quality and environmental standards.
• Collaborate with supervisors, tradespeople and operational personnel to minimise downtime and support continuous improvement initiatives.

This full-time position offers a salary of $75,000-$85,000 plus superannuation per annum.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
