Job summary

General Mills at Rooty Hill in Australia seeks a Maintenance Fitter to keep our state-of-the-art facility running smoothly and safely. You’ll diagnose and repair a wide range of equipment, support continuous improvement projects and work with cross-functional teams to install new equipment.

The role requires pneumatics, welding (TIG/MIG) and strong problem-solving, teamwork and communication, with opportunities for training and career development in a leading FMCG environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate III – Mechanical Trade (Fitting and machining).
• Experience in a food manufacturing or related industry.
• Knowledge of pneumatics.
• Ability to weld (TIG/MIG) and minor fabrication.
• Experience with automated plant and machine timing.
• Experience with packaging equipment is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair equipment and site infrastructure per preventive schedules.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues on automated equipment.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency.
• Collaborate with Quality, R&D, and Engineering on new equipment projects.

Key Responsibilities:

What you'll bring:

• Certificate III – Mechanical Trade (Fitting and machining)
• Proven experience in a food manufacturing or related industry (essential)
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with pneumatics (essential)
• Ability to weld (TIG and MIG) and carry out minor fabrication work
• Experience with automated plant and mechanical machine timing
• Experience with packaging equipment (Case packers/Thermoformers/Conveyors) is highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Desirable (but not essential):

• D Class Electrical License
• SAP and Microsoft Office experience
