Job summary

General Mills in Rooty Hill, NSW, is seeking a Maintenance Fitter to join our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. You will maintain and repair equipment, participate in improvements, and ensure safety compliance while supporting production across our Australian operations.

Ideal candidates have a Certificate III in Mechanical Trade, practical pneumatics experience, and proven ability to weld and fabricate. The role offers competitive hourly pay, night shift loading, and on-site facilities.

Qualifications

• Certificate III – Mechanical Trade (Fitting & Machining).
• Proven experience in a food manufacturing or related industry.
• Demonstrated knowledge of pneumatics.
• Welding ability (TIG/MIG) and minor fabrication.
• Experience with automated plant and timing.
• Experience with packaging equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair a wide range of manufacturing equipment and site infrastructure, following preventative maintenance schedules.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues on automated equipment.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to increased efficiency and productivity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, R&D, Engineering) on projects involving new equipment design and installation.
• Ensure all work complies with company health and safety policies.

What you'll bring

• Ability to weld (TIG and MIG) and carry out minor fabrication work
• Experience with automated plant and mechanical machine timing
• Experience with packaging equipment (Case packers/Thermoformers/Conveyors) is highly desirable.
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Desirable (but not essential)

• D Class Electrical License
• SAP and Microsoft Office experience
