Job summary

RPR Trades is seeking experienced Maintenance Fitters for food & beverage manufacturing facilities across Sydney. Casual ongoing work with potential temp-to-perm opportunities. Earn $53.50 per hour + super across multiple sites, with day, afternoon and night shifts available.

You will perform preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance, diagnose faults, and assist with installations and upgrades, ensuring safety, quality and production targets are met.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent.
  • Experience as Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Fitter or Tradesperson.
  • Food and beverage manufacturing experience is essential.
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with high-speed production and packaging machinery.
  • Knowledge of preventative and reactive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and equipment docs.
  • WHS and safety compliance understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance on processing equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair faults to minimise downtime and protect output.
  • Maintain conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems and conduct inspections.
  • Support machinery installations, upgrades and commissioning.
  • Work on high-speed production, processing and packaging lines.
  • Identify improvements and contribute to continuous improvement projects.
  • Complete maintenance records and work orders accurately.
  • Collaborate with production teams to resolve equipment issues.

About the Opportunity

We are currently seeking experienced Maintenance Fitters to join our growing team, providing mechanical maintenance and project support across a number of established food and beverage manufacturing facilities throughout Sydney.

This is an excellent opportunity for qualified fitters looking for long-term, ongoing work, consistent hours and the opportunity to work across a variety of modern manufacturing environments.

You will be responsible for keeping production equipment operating safely and efficiently, undertaking preventative maintenance, responding to breakdowns and assisting with machinery installations, upgrades and improvement projects.

For the right candidates, there are also genuine opportunities to transition from casual employment into permanent positions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance on food and beverage processing and production equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise equipment downtime and maintain production output.
  • Maintain and repair conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, bearings, chains, sprockets and other mechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections, servicing and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to machinery breakdowns and production issues.
  • Assist with machinery installations, equipment upgrades and commissioning activities.
  • Work on high-speed production, processing and packaging equipment.
  • Identify opportunities for equipment improvements and contribute to continuous improvement projects.
  • Complete maintenance records, work orders and relevant documentation accurately.
  • Work closely with production teams to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Maintain a strong focus on equipment reliability, safety and production efficiency.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with WHS, food safety and quality requirements.
What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent trade qualification.
  • Previous experience working as a Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Fitter or Mechanical Tradesperson.
  • Previous food and beverage manufacturing experience is essential.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience working with high-speed production and packaging machinery.
  • Sound knowledge of preventative and reactive maintenance practices.
  • Experience with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and equipment documentation.
  • A strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
  • White Card – desirable.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work across multiple manufacturing sites throughout Sydney.
  • A reliable, flexible and professional approach to work.
