Job summary

Citilink Piling (NSW) PTY LTD in Sydney is seeking a skilled Fitter to maintain and repair machinery, ensuring reliability, safety and efficiency across workshop and field environments.

You will study drawings and manuals, fit metal parts, install hydraulic and pneumatic lines, and diagnose faults with strong problem-solving skills; a Certificate IV in Mechanical Trade is required.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Mechanical Trade or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of proven experience as a Fitter or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and components.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
• Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.

Responsibilities

• Inspect machinery and equipment to identify faults and perform routine maintenance and servicing tasks.
• Follow workplace safety guidelines and procedures; study drawings and specifications for materials and machine settings.
• Fit fabricated metal parts into products and assemble sub-assemblies to produce machinery and equipment.
• Interpret technical manuals to identify spare parts and order them; check parts for accuracy, clearance and fit.
• Cut, thread, bend and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines.
• Repair or replace worn or defective parts and reassemble mechanical components; maintain equipment to required specifications.
• Diagnose and repair machinery and equipment in workshop and field environments; diagnose electrical systems where required; attend out-of-hours breakdowns.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing machinery and equipment to ensure they operate efficiently, reliably and safely. We are looking for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, practical problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively with machinery and equipment.

Task & responsibilities

Inspect machinery and equipment to identify faults. Perform routine maintenance and servicing tasks. Repair or replace faulty and worn parts.

Follow workplace safety guidelines and procedures. Study drawings and specifications to determine suitable materials, methods, sequence of operations and machine settings. Fit fabricated metal parts into products and assemble metal parts and sub-assemblies to produce machinery and equipment.

Interpret technical manuals to identify spare parts for ordering. Check fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit.

Cut, thread, bend and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines.

Repair or replace worn or defective parts and reassemble mechanical components. Maintain equipment to required specifications to ensure reliable operation. Conduct workshop maintenance and maintain high housekeeping standards in work areas.

Diagnose and repair machinery and equipment in workshop and field environments. Diagnose and repair electrical systems where required. Attend out-of-hours breakdowns and vehicle retrievals where required.

Qualification & experience

Certificate IV in Mechanical Trade or equivalent. Minimum 1 years of proven experience as a Fitter or in a similar role. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and components.

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings. Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills. Strong commitment to workplace safety.
