Job summary

Boral Limited is seeking an experienced Plant Fitter to join our Port Kembla team. You will manage repairs and maintenance for the Port Kembla Asphalt Plant, working varied shifts, including nights and weekends.

The role may require travel to multiple NSW asphalt plants to support operations. The ideal candidate is a Trade Qualified Fitter with proven experience at fixed plants, strong welding/fabrication skills, and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification as a Fitter is required.
  • Experience maintaining fixed plant equipment in an industrial setting.
  • Strong welding and fabrication skills essential.
  • Experience replacing motors, gearboxes and bearings.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and safe working practices.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
  • Willingness to work across day and night shifts, including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain repairs for Port Kembla Asphalt Plant.
  • Carry out programmed maintenance tasks and inspections.
  • Liaise with Asset and Production teams on task prioritisation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and permits.
  • Supervise contractors and labour onsite.
  • Monitor plant equipment for defects and performance.
  • Participate in plant shutdowns as required.
  • Travel to various NSW plants to support operations.

Due to continued growth across our business, we now have a great opportunity available for an experienced Plant Fitter to join our high performing team in Port Kembla


Your primary responsibility in this role will be to manage and carry out repairs and maintenance of our Port Kembla Asphalt Plant. This role will require you to be available to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends and be available to travel to various Asphalt plants across the NSW region to support operational requirements.


Your day will involve:


  • Working independently, consulting with Asset and Production teams on prioritisation of tasks

  • Ensure that the manufacturing plant complies with relevant safety standards

  • Ensure equipment is maintained to the highest possible standard for operational purposes and to allow the business to meet objectives

  • Complete programmed maintenance tasks

  • Ensure all relevant permits and safety paperwork is in place before commencement of tasks

  • Contractor & labour supervision onsite

  • Complete daily plant inspections

  • Monitoring plant equipment for any defects

  • Available to participate in plant shutdown programs
